Work Place Giving
Workplace giving is a joint relationship between employers, employees and charities. Individuals contribute a small portion of their pre-tax salary to charity and receive the tax benefit straight away rather than waiting until the end of financial year. For example, if you donate $20, it will only cost you $12.60* but the charity will receive the full $20. In some cases, employers will match staff donations, so the value of your donation will double to $40 direct to the charity of your choice.
* Exact figures are dependent on the individual’s ATO personal tax bracket
Workplace giving is a win-win-win for business, employees and charities.
Employers enjoy greater staff engagement, retention, productivity, reputation and social impact.
Employees give in a smarter, tax-effective way and build a sense of pride in their employer.
Charities get low-cost, regular funds, access to valuable skills and strong partnerships.
Workplace giving is a simple and effective way to regularly donate to fara Australia. The regular income from workplace giving helps with our budgeting and forecasting for future research funding. fara Australia is a registered charity with the ACNC and has an ongoing deductible gift recipient (DGR) status, so therefore is eligible.
To set up workplace giving at your organisation, all you need to do is set up payroll donations and then encourage your staff to sign up. We can provide you with some resources to assist with this process. If your employer already offers workplace giving, you could simply ask to add fara Australia to their list of selected charities.
